AKUBRA
Akubra is THE Australian hat so much so that Akubra is almost
a generic term
for an Australian bush or outback hat. 100 years ago, men
and women all wore
hats when out of doors. Akubra was a well respected brand
even then and
today it sets the standard for well finished fashionable felt
hats. They
make 'city' hats such as the Hampton, 'trendy' hats like the
Bogart,
'western' hats such as The Boss and of course the 'traditional'
hat of which
the Snowy River is the most popular.
We have more than 20 different styles on the following pages
and there must
be one there to suit you.
When ordering, we do suggest that you go up one size because
a hat that is
too tight is literally a 'pain'. If the hat is too large,
you can always
make it smaller by placing one or more of the foam pads we
supply inside the
leather sweat band.

BARMAH
Barmah Hats are credited with the first foldable, squashable
leather hat
which can be carried around in a small calico bag. If this
was their only
claim to fame they may not have lasted very long. They realised
that they
also needed to produce a superior product and they have been
very successful with this.
Barmah are very particular about the leather they use and
go to great
lengths to make sure that they get a consistent product. Their
leathers are
always soft and they spring back into shape even after being
packed in the
calico bag.
All of the canvas and leathers are treated to make them waterproof.
The
canvas hats have a slightly wider brim and, although they
can be folded, it
is not normal to do so.
All of the Barmah hats are finished with a special soft,
stretchy sweat band
to offer maximum comfort under all conditions.

JACARU
Jacaru was one of the first manufacturers of leather hats
in Australia and
they have continued to expand. They are situated on Australia's
Gold Coast
not far from Australian Gear and now have a big presence overseas.
We are pleased to be able to supply their hats which come
with a lifetime
guarantee on materials and workmanship. Jacaru hats are very
rugged and will
withstand the roughest of treatment. They offer a range of
styles in leather
or canvas suitable for both men and women.
Like all leather hats, they develop their own character over
the years and
it is very rare for anyone to want a new hat because they
seem to develop an
attachment to the 'good old' one.
