Barmah 1062BR Foldaway Oiled Dark Brown

The Barmah hat product line has long been a favorite of mine. I previously owned one hat which steadfastly endured five years of use. This is a remarkable testament to its durability, especially considering the hot, humid climate and significant perspiration exposure in my region.
​Its eventual demise occurred during an archaeological field expedition in the jungle and mountains, where a thorny branch aggressively snagged the brim and tore it. Unsurprisingly, I immediately ordered a replacement from Australiangear. Although the delivery process was a little slow and presented a few logistical hurdles, the challenges were manageable and well-understood.

Should you ever visit any of Thailand's archaeological sites and we have the chance to meet, I would be delighted to personally give you a tour and a private lecture on the history and archaeology.
​Inevitably, on my very first use after unboxing—I wore the new Barmah hat back into the forest—the predictable happened. It was snagged by a thorn, leaving a deep mark that nearly tore it. While I felt a pang of regret, the Barmah hat once again performed its duty with distinction, protecting my head perfectly. I will remain a lifelong Big Fan of Barmah hats.

Great product, leather not as soft as my previous hat but still nice.

The brim of the hat on the image are not so high on the ears. But they are very high, augmenting too much for me this "Australian style". That was important for me to have flat brims. First time I am deceived with my purchase at Australian Gear. There was not enough photos on the website.

10 years on, this hat has been up volcanoes and under the Atlantic and is still going strong. Stood in gusting winds of 7-8 Beaufort, my wife now wants one as her little hat went sailing. The grip and comfort of this hat is unquestionably superior to anything you can buy on the street. I have not yet had to treat the leather, I actually came here to see if there were any tips for maintenance as I anticipate still wearing this another decade from now. I of course have to buy a backup just in case.
